Sweet finishes

I had time to finish two projects today!

I started this Kenner scarf from Sequence Knitting way before Christmas. I can't believe how long it took me to complete! The yarn is Pomegranate Stripe, I Love This Yarn, from Hobby Lobby.

The highlight of my day was finishing my Primrose Path doily. I wanted to finish it in time for Presidents' Day, and I did it!

Almost there

I had quite a bit of tatting time today, so I'm almost finished... only two pattern repeats to go!

Having fun

Yes, I did get some housework done today and I did finish all the laundry, so I did not feel at all guilty about the time I took out for tatting!

I'm very happy to be halfway around the outside edge of my Primrose Path doily. With any luck, I'll finish it this weekend.

Part of my success with my Spinning Wheel goal is that I reload my shuttles as soon as I finish one. I'm always prepared with carry-along tatting!

I didn't go anywhere today, but I did take the time to start another Spinning Wheel. This one is in size 20 Lizbeth Twirlz, Midnight Mist #407. It reminds me of charcoal sketches. I think I must have received this color as a gift, as it doesn't seem like a color I would normally be drawn to. I do like the way it looks!

Blaze Spinning Wheel

I finished another Spinning Wheel glass mat today. This one is in size 20 Lizbeth Twirlz, Blaze #409. It has a similar look to Jane's HWT. However, since Jane is combining her own threads, she has many more color possibilities!

In case you haven't been following my Spinning Wheel challenge, the pattern is from Tatting with Visual Patterns by Mary Konior. It's my all-time-favorite pattern!

I also made good progress on my Primrose Path doily, another pattern by Mary Konior. This one is from A Pattern Book of Tatting. The thread is size 20 Lizbeth, Angel's Love and Wedgewood DK.

We have no school tomorrow in celebration of Lincoln's birthday. I could spend the day tatting, but I think I'm going to get my housework out of the way so that I can enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Starting the final round

I'm feeling kind of tired tonight, so I'm going to be satisfied with one primrose motif on the final round. Do you see the bow on the top left? I decided that I didn't want to look for the right side every time I start a new motif, so I marked the first one. Now I know where to go next!

The middle section of my Primrose Path doily is finished, and I'm ready four the outer primrose motifs. I do love this pattern!

Primrose Path center

The center section of my Primrose Path doily is finished! Now there are four rounds of chains. The last time I made this doily, my chains were very uneven. I'm going to try and be more consistent this time around. It's good to set goals, right?

Plenty of time to tat

Dave was working on Alison's downstairs bathroom, and Alison was busy running the kids here, there, and everywhere. So, I had plenty of time to tat!

Before we left this morning, I managed to finish the second primrose motif for my Primrose Path doily. I do like the red, white, and blue together!

Primrose motif

I've been looking through some of my favorite pattern books, and I'm always drawn to my Mary Konior books first. I love her Primrose Path pattern from A Pattern Book of Tatting. So, I decided to see what it would look like in red, white and blue. I think I like it!

Hot off the shuttles!

Here it is! I am thrilled with my second Primrose Path doily! I'm glad I paid attention to where the color change occurred when I started each motif. I think it makes a big difference. I would show it next to the first doily, but my friend Nancy asked me for a doily to hold an angel planter that was given to her as a get well gift. She's been ill since February, and I'm glad she asked me for one of my tatted doilies.


Dave noticed that I was having trouble finding a place to photograph my tatting, so he made this table for me. He got the idea from a table he saw at a floral shop. He helped cut a tree down at a friend's house last fall, and he spirited the wood pieces into the basement without my knowledge. I never go down to the basement any more, so he knew the project would remain a secret! He surprised me with it on Sunday. I'll have to practice taking pictures in different lighting, so I guess I'd better keep tatting!


I think this may be the perfect home for my newly finished doily. The colors go well with my little creamer from Tom Jones Pottery. Hmm... maybe I should have dusted first!

Primrose Path Completed!

Well, it's complete except for proper blocking. I was so excited to finish this, that I performed a quick steam job and placed it on the scanner. I didn't even take time to place it neatly on the scanner bed. I just couldn't help myself!

I love everything about this doily... the pattern, the thread, the size. Now I'll have to complete the second one where I pay attention to the color changes. I have a few other projects I need to finish first, though.

Oh, how I wish I could stay home and tat all day long! It is an early dismissal day, though, so I can't complain too much! I'm hoping that Carol will cook dinner or go for carry-out so that I can spend some quality tatting time today!


I"m slowly but surely making progress on my Primrose Path doily. Have I mentioned that I love this pattern? It's challenging enough that I don't fall asleep while working on it, but simple enough that I can work on it while I'm watching t.v. or listening to music. I love the colors I've chosen. This is my "trial" doily, where I haven't paid attention to where I started tatting the floral motifs with the variegated thread. When I get to that one, I'm thinking of using green for the second section, even though it's a lighter shade. Or, maybe I should stick with the blue. What do you think?


I was lucky enough to win a tatted bookmark from my friend Laura. Isn't it gorgeous? What I wasn't expecting was the bonus of two hankies and two bobbins! Thank you, Laura! How did you know I've been thinking about hanky edgings and bobbin lace?

More Primrose Path

I finally finished the second section of Primrose Path by Mary Konior. I was almost finished with this section when I realized I was short one section of chain on the first round! So, I cut out all the blue and re-tatted. I find tatting lots of chains to be pretty boring, so this took me longer than it should have. Anyway, I'm ready to start the last section, and I'm really liking the way the pattern goes together.
