March comes in like a lion?

It didn't come in like a lion here in our part of Illinois. It was mild and breezy yesterday and today. I'm not complaining!

I did start the month of right with an Ice Drop. I just wasn't in the mood to work on the computer yesterday. This Doodle Ice Drop is in size 20 Lizbeth #714, Seacrest Green. The ceramic shuttle is by Sherry Pence aka LadyShuttleMaker.

I spent many hours working on my second Sanditon shawl yesterday. I'm still struggling with eyelet rows. Luckily, I have been able to find and resolve my mistakes much more quickly than I did with the last shawl!

Today's Doodle Ice Drop is in size 20 Lizbeth #153, Rainbow Taffy. The ceramic shuttle is one of my favorites from Sherry Pence.

The high school production of Back to the 80s: the Totally Awesome Musical is in less than two weeks, and with it has come a renewed interest among the high school students with Rubik's cubes. I did some searching and found quite a few variations of puzzle cubes. I purchased some and took them to school today. It was kind of fun to see the kids focusing on puzzles instead of smart phones!

Final count

I finished off my ball of size 20 Lizbeth #153, Rainbow Taffy, this morning.

Don't they look pretty laid out? There are 38 here, plus the 5 that daughter Joanne took home with her, making a total of 43 basic Ice Drops from one ball of thread. I think that's pretty impressive!

Someone was asking how I store my Ice Drops. I found these little window top tins online a couple of years ago. The Ice Drops fit in very nicely. They don't get crumpled, they stay dust free, and I can see what is inside. I think I'll probably use painter's tape for labels on the side of the tin. That way I can stack the tins in my closet and still be able to find what I'm looking for.

How do you store your tatted pieces?

New beads!

I went to Etsy over the weekend, looking for 20 mm coins. I really meant coins, but my search results were mainly cabochons and beads.

I did order a few, and this was one of the first to arrive. It works great for an Ice Drop, and it's very light.

The listing was for 20 clear antique acrylic beads. When I checked a few minutes ago, there was only one package left. I wonder who will order it?

Of course, I also had to tat some colorful Ice Drops... and yes, I do still have some Rainbow Taffy left on the ball!

Yes, indeed. I am still pulling thread off the same ball of Rainbow Taffy!

Today I played with picots. From left to right, the chains have 1, 3, 5, and 15 picots. I sure am getting a lot of Ice Drops from this ball of thread!

Believe it or not, I still have some Rainbow Taffy left. I hope to tat some more tomorrow!

I finished four Ice Drops today, all in size 20 Lizbeth #153, Rainbow Taffy. Did you notice that from left to right there are 1, 2, 3, and 4 beads at the tips? I used the same beads with each one, but the number of beads on each one sure changes the look!

This has been my carry-along project for the last couple of days.

It's amazing how much can be accomplished when you do a little bit here and a little bit there!

It was right next to my favorite chair, and I could see lovely blue glass gems over on the coffee table. I thought they'd make a beautiful combination, and I think I was right! The pattern is a variation on the Ice Drop.

Mary Donohue had shown something similar on the Ice Drop Addicts page on Facebook. I wanted to try her pattern, but my Internet connection was so slow this morning, I decided to try and do it from memory. Mine isn't exactly like Mary's, but it's close enough! Thank you for the inspiration, Mary!

I added another motif to my runner project today. I wonder how many motifs I'll get out of one ball of thread? I guess I'll find out!

This silver glass gem just called out for the silver and white ribbon.

I'm surprised at how much I like the white gem with this thread. So far, I have 16 Ice Drops out of my ball of Lizbeth #153, Rainbow Taffy. It's kind of fun to try and make each one different while determining how many can be made from one ball of thread!

Should I use it?

I was showing Mom my hankie collection this morning, you know the hankies I've been meaning to tat edgings for? After I sat down in my chair, I spied a ball of size 80 Lizbeth, Rainbow Taffy. It looked perfect, and I was very excited to start tatting an edging for it!

As I progressed with the pattern, I got to thinking that maybe the bright blue light was too different from the blue embroidered on the hankie. The other colors look great, but what about the blue?

What do you think? Should I use this thread for this hankie, or should I try a different color? The edging won't go to waste. I have a peach colored hankie that looks great with this thread!
