Back on track

It didn't take long to snip of round 7 of Jan Stawasz's Masterpiece Doily, only about 10 minutes.

I managed four pattern repeats before running out of thread. Rather than refill my shuttle...

I switched over to Renulek's tat-along. Even though I used picot gauges, I think my picots all look the same size. I guess I'll be able to tell if it makes a difference on the next round!

I also managed to finish Jane's TIAS. Aren't those scissors adorable?

These button flowers are so much fun to make, and now I can complete one in about eight minutes. The kids at school really like them. On Friday, one of the boys asked if he could buy one for his mom for Valentine's Day. How cute!

Friday was the 100th day of school. Students and staff were invited to dress up as 100-year-olds. I had no intention of doing that. I just don't get in to dressing up. I must have been focused on what to do with round 7 of the Jan Stawasz doily, because when I got to school I discovered that I had put two different shoes in my tote! Luckily I packed one right shoe and one left shoe, and the kids thought I was just participating in the fun! ;-)

Day 12

My Internet access has been spotty for the last couple of days, probably because of the weather, so I wasn't able to access Day 12 of Jane's TIAS until after school today. I think Jane must have been reading about my snipping adventures with the Jan Stawasz doily!

Speaking of the doily... I think I'll take a break from it today. It's time to reload the shuttles, and by the time I cook dinner and wind thread, I think I'll be ready to call it quits for today. After all, tomorrow is another day!

Making the most of the day

I think I could get used to four day work weeks. I have so much more time to do the things I love!

I started the day by tatting the next installment of Jane's TIAS. I think I made a mistake on the very first ring, but I'm hoping it will be all right in the end.

I finished the second round of Renulek's current doily tat-along.

One of the teachers at school asked if I could make some crocheted button flowers for her. She wants to make hair clips for her daughter. I think they turned out really cute!

After a little weaving, a little ironing, and cleaning up the kitchen, I took time to work on the Jan Stawasz doily. My goal is to finish this round by the end of the week. I think I'll make it!

Today's cowl is in Bernat Baby Blanket "Pitter Patter." This yarn is so soft. Maybe I'll make one for myself!

Could it be a dodo bird?

Probably not, but I sure am having fun with Jane's TIAS! The bonus is that I've had practice tatting split rings, not one of my strong points. Who knows? Maybe Jane will get me tatting split rings on a regular basis!

Back to where I was

I'm finally back to the point where I was when Carollyn saw my mistake, and I'm feeling pretty good about how this round is going. I have a feeling it's going to take a while, but I don't mind. I really like this round!

I forgot to post my progress on Jane's TIAS yesterday. At this point, I think it looks like needle nose pliers!

My first mistake...

...of round 7!

The first pattern repeat went just fine, so I confidently started the second pattern repeat. To my dismay, I realized that I forgot a picot and 5 ds, so there was nothing to join to. I'm not very far along, so guess what? It will be snip, snip, snip, snip, snip, snip, start over. I sure am glad this happened at the beginning of the round!

Although my Internet connection was very slow this morning, I did manage to finish Day 7 of Jane's TIAS. I have absolutely no idea what this could be!

3 more repeats

That's all I have left of this round! It will take me about an hour and a half, and although it's still early, I think I'm done for tonight. I'll see what I can accomplish tomorrow.

Before school, I managed to get the next part of Jane's TIAS done. I'm glad that each day presents just a little of the design. It makes it very easy for me to keep up!

Early morning tatting

Dave and I both woke up before 5:30 this morning, leaving plenty of time for checking blogs and tatting! My last guess was a hummingbird perched on a purple flower, but that hummingbird had flown away. Now I see Winged Victory!

TIAS Day 3

Not much tatting to show for today, but at least I was able to work on Jane's TIAS!

Just my speed

Day 2 of Jane's TIAS is up, and today's tat is just my speed... simple rings and chains!

TIAS Day 1

TIAS

Are you ready for Jane's TIAS? I've had my shuttles loaded and button ready for days. I love the anticipation, but I've only ever completed one TIAS. Hopefully, I'll stick with it again this year!

I’m sitting here with my first cup of coffee for the day. I didn’t think I’d be able to try today’s pattern segment until school was out for the day, but there is no school today because of the expected severe cold. Whatever will I do with myself? ;-)

This is my first time joining a button to my tatting, and thanks to Jane's very clear directions, I was able to connect on the third try. I guess I hadn’t had enough caffeine yet, because I was not pulling the correct thread through the hole.

Split rings terrorize me, but I decided to soldier on as if I knew what I was doing, and guess what? I successfully completed my split ring on the first try. I’m feeling quite pleased with myself right now.

It’s just after 6 a.m. and I have the whole day ahead of me. I think I’ll go see what mischief I can get up to!
