I really need to stop!

...but I can't seem to help myself!

I found this beautiful silver shuttle on Etsy. I don't think I've ever seen a silver shuttle on Etsy before. I enjoyed not having to bid and hope that no one outbid me!

I found three more beauties from Shuttle By Design that I just had to have.

I did manage to get a little done on my Concentric Rectangles doily today.

Although I didn't get much accomplished on the tatting front, I did manage to complete quite a few mermaid scale necklaces. I only have 15 left to make, and then I'll be able to concentrate on the mermaid tail afghan!

No, not chicken dinner... a beautiful tatting shuttle!

When I learned there were going to be silver shuttles up for auction on eBay, I checked them all out! I think I bid on six or seven of them, but this was the one I really wanted! My great-grandmother was Eva Kresge Morris, and she would have been her late 30s or early 40s when this shuttle was engraved (her daughter, my Grandma Green, was 17 in 1916).

It's fun to think that this shuttle could have belonged to my great-grandmother, but I don't believe she was a tatter.

Eliz commented that as I finished a Spinning Wheel, she found herself wondering what the next color would be. That comment made me chuckle! This is size 20 Manuela that I've had for several years. I like the way it's working so far!

They're pretty subtle. It's hard to catch the shimmer with a camera, but there's just enough sparkle to make the bag extra special! I still haven't started the drawstring. Thank goodness the weekend is coming!

Worth the wait

I've been waiting for a special package from Janemactats, but it turned out to be far more special than I ever expected!

First, when I opened the package I found a gorgeous pair of knit gloves. Aren't they wonderful? They fit like, well, a glove! I had trouble taking a picture of both hands, but trust me, they fit perfectly!

Next, I found this beautiful Celtic bookmark. I love the contrasting colors. Who knows, I may even be inspired to try this some day!

Can you believe that Jane tatted a shuttle bag for me? It's even in my favorite color, blue!

Now here is what I was really expecting... my very own silver shuttle with my initials engraved in it! Do you remember Jane blogging about her shuttle? Well I contacted her, and her wonderful husband arranged for the jeweler to make one for me! The price was, as Jane warned me, "eye-watering."

However, the weight is perfect. The silver is gorgeous, and the jeweler did a fantastic job! I can hardly wait to start tatting! It won't happen tonight, though. I have a school board meeting to attend. Sigh! Maybe when I get home.
