A tale of two Ice Drops...

Today I tatted two Doodle Ice Drops, both in size 20 Lizbeth #683, Leaf Green Lt. The stitch count is the same on both, but the one on the left is smaller because of the size of the glass gem.

When using a smaller glass gem (3/4"), I prefer to use my original basic Ice Drop pattern as the base. I love the flower design on the back!

If the glass gem is slightly larger, I use the one pass method. In the one pass method, I tat the back ring, then the front ring, and finally the chain that links to the next set of rings. The advantage to using this method is that it is easy to increase the number of rings to accommodate the size of the glass gem. I do have quite a few larger glass gems on hand, so it's nice to have options!

Do opposites really attract?

I really wanted to know, so I worked diligently to finish my Spinning Wheel glass mat.

In this case, I believe opposites really do attract. I'm not sure which one I like better. They may have to stay together forever!

Since this is the last day of March, it's time for a picture of my March tatting. I did have five more motifs, but those were sent off to Michelle's students. All in all, March seems to have been a very productive month!

This is my first time to finish a Spinning Wheel glass mat in two colors. I wasn't sure I would like it. I'm not fond of the way it looks in the picture, but in person it's stunning!

This one is in size 20 Lizbeth Leaf Green Lt and Wedgewood Dk. I really like the two colors together!

Snuggle time

I spent lots of time snuggling babies today, so I didn't tat much. However...

I did manage to find time to start another Spinning Wheel glass mat! I decided to use two colors this time. I'm eager to see how this one turns out!

Concentric Rectangles

While browsing the Internet for hanky edging ideas, I found a pattern for a Concentric Rectangles doily.

This is the center of the doily. Once the pattern is memorized, the doily can be any size you like! Maybe I should attempt a tatted tablecloth for my dining room table. ;-)

Leaf Green Lt. Spinning Wheel

I love the way this one turned out! This makes my 14th Spinning Wheel glass mat for 2016. I've already pulled out the next color!

What next?

I finished the ring and chain edging on my hanky, but I feel it needs more. From the beginning, I intended that there would be a second round, however, I haven't found a pattern that catches my eye for the second round. Do you have any ideas, or should I leave it as it is?

We went to visit friends today, so I finished a little more tatting on my latest Spinning Wheel while we Dave was driving. I do like the color of this one!

Hanky time

We spent another Saturday at Alison's working on her house. Dave worked. Alison ran the kids around. I tatted! Even using size 20 thread, it takes a long time to tat a hanky edging. I didn't take any extra thread with me, so here is where I had to stop. I think that's pretty good progress for one day!

I did have my shuttles loaded for another Spinning Wheel glass mat. This one is in size 20 Lizbeth, Leaf Green Lt. #683.

You'd think I'd get tire of tatting this pattern, but I don't. In fact, I can hardly wait to see what it will look like in the next color a pull out of the tub of thread I have on hand!
