Imperial round 5

 

Yesterday ended up being very busy, including a trip to daughter Alison's. So, I had to wait until today to finish round 5 of Imperial from Bonded with tatting - doilies by Laura Bziukiewicz.

I LOVE this round! It was easy to follow, and it was challenging. I kept close track of where I was in the pattern, and I nearly messed up several times. Luckily, I caught my mistakes before closing rings.

I think I will probably tat this one again. I think the Lizbeth #112 Carousel is very pretty, but Laura's beautiful design is lost in the color changes. 

There's only one round to go, but I think I'll wait until tomorrow. I'm in the middle of two good books, and I'm eager to get back to them!

Pure laziness

It was out of pure laziness that I started tatting Imperial from Bonded with tatting - doilies by Laura Bziukiewicz. I'm using size 20 Lizbeth #112 Carousel. I was going to stop after round 2 yesterday, but my friend Stephanie emailed me that she is going to tat this one with me. So, I was inspired to start round 3. I had a spurt of energy when I thought I was ready for bed. With a little bit of late night (late night for me is 9 p.m.) and some early morning tatting, round 3 is finished!

There's a stomach bug going around school, so I'm going to get round 4 started just in case I get a last minute call to sub. If I don't get called in, I need to find the safe place I stashed my bias binding so that I can finish up the baby quilts.

Oh, and the lazy part... instead of looking for that bias binding, I reached for the shuttles, thread, and pattern that were close at hand and started tatting. I can be really good at procrastinating!

Stitch markers

Apparently I'm not very good at counting. Once again, I had trouble with an eyelet row. This time I only spent three hours figuring out what I'd done wrong, and the problem was actually with the row before the eyelets. I had an accidental yarn over. I counted the stitches in that row at least three times, so I'm not sure how I missed that extra stitch.

Anyway, I decided that I would put a stitch marker every ten stitches to keep myself on track, and so far it's working.

Knitting and unknitting is mentally exhausting, so I gave myself a break with tatting. This is size 20 Lizbeth #112, Carousel. The shuttle is another beauty from Grizzly Mountain Arts.

We had snow today, something I wasn't expecting. I managed to get my steps in by walking around the house every time I was on the phone. It took until 7 tonight, but I did get my steps in!

Playing with color

I do love my Ice Drops in white, but I'm determined to play with color!

The more I tat with pink, the more I like it!

Here I used size 20 Lizbeth #112, Carousel.

I think the purple ribbon is perfect!

This one is in size 20 Lizbeth #124, Spring Garden.

I'm not sure I chose the right ribbon for this one, but I like it.

I worked some more with Heritage Patterns by Norma Benporath. This is Edging 3, a two shuttle pattern. The suggested size is 40, but since I'm just experimenting, I used the size 20 that was close by. I really like this one!
