End of the year

I haven't been very good about blogging in 2025. Part of it is that I'm getting more forgetful as I get older. Another part of it is that so many people I met through blogging are no longer posting.

I've been thinking a lot lately about all of the wonderful tatters I have met through blogging, and I've decided that I'm going to make a greater effort to blog in the new year. I do want to keep in contact with the friends I have made through the years, and blogging seems to be the easiest way.

Today I tatted my last 2025 ornament. I did manage to tat ornaments for my friends at school, but I did not get around to tatting for family. My remedy for this... start tatting in January for next Christmas!

Our school district has been working on connecting with graduates, and January 9 will be Alumni Night. Every Friday is school spirit day when we are encouraged to wear school colors. I've been in the mood to knit the Stitch Sampler Cowl by Wool & Company in gold. The yarn I'm using is Galway #179 from The Plymouth Yarn Co. I've knit this cowl before in white, and I think I'll knit a third in green.

I've been busy organizing my tatting books and patterns I've saved from the Internet. It's amazing how many I've collected over the years. Maybe I'll blog about my books. It will give me a chance to revisit some old friends!

Getting there!

I'll have the check my list, but I think I only have two ornaments left to tat for friends at school!

I had the most fun at school yesterday.  I subbed for middle school social studies last Friday, and some of the 7th graders wanted to know what I was working on. They were fascinated that I was knitting dishcloths, and some of them asked if they could have one.

I showed up for lunch supervision yesterday, and the kids who were interested each took one dishcloth with the understanding that they would help wash dishes at home. You would have thought I was passing out gold!

Tollway Tatters

Yesterday, we had our first Sunday Tollway Tatters meeting! There were six of us in attendance, and we've decided that we will meet the second Sunday of each month at 2 p.m. EST. That's 1 p.m. for those of us in the Midwest.

We will continue to meet the last Saturday of each month at 10 a.m. EST, 9 a.m. CST. That gives us twice a month to work on projects with like-minded friends!

During our gather yesterday, I managed to finish another candy button ornament. I only have two left to finish by Friday. I think I can do it!

I'd still like to make some for family, but I'm sure they will all understand if I don't finish in time for Christmas.

I had some small, awkwardly shaped presents to wrap. I remembered seeing a tutorial on line for making gift bags out of wrapping paper. I did a quick search and found several tutorials online. They're not perfect, but they are much better than scrunched up paper around odd shapes!
