8 and 63

What do those numbers mean? Today is my 8th blogiversary and my 63rd birthday. I've had a lot of fun for the past 8 years, and I owe my blogging inspiration to Sherry Pence aka LadyShuttleMaker. Did you know that she's back to blogging? Yippee! Without Sherry's encouragement, I might never have started blogging. So, thank you, Sherry.

Daughter Carol is working on her master's thesis in history this summer, the denazification of Prussia... a very deep topic to my way of thinking. She asked for some new bookmarks to help with her research. Her students call her CC, so I thought it appropriate that she have a CC bookmark. She loves it!

Sophia decided to join Mommy in a footpath, very relaxing for both of them!

Sophia's new favorite toy is her bubble machine lawn mower. She has spent hours mowing the porch!

I finally finished another baby blanket for Joanne's baby boy... time to start another for baby girl!

All in all, it has been a wonderful blogiversary/birthday!

Winding down

Today is the last day of school with the kids. Monday is teacher institute day, and then I'll be free to catch up on everything I've let slide!

My obsession with crocheted button flowers continues.

They're kind of like eating popcorn... I just can't stop! I think it's because they are so quick and easy.

I finished a blanket for daughter Joanne's baby girl, due in September. I've started another for baby boy. They're taking me much longer than they used to, but that's okay. I have a little time! The edge looks rippled now, but once the blankets are washed, they'll be nice and smooth.

Last night I started test tatting Robin Perfetti's "Noelle." It's such a pretty snowflake. I'm using size 20 Omega. This thread seems finer than size 20 Lizbeth, so it will be interesting to see the finished size.

Tatted hanky edging... finished!

I finished Tiffany's hanky tonight, and I think it looks really pretty. This completes my second personal challenge piece: size 20 Flora, Grizzly Mountain Arts Tatsy-style shuttle, "Forget-me-not" from A Pattern Book of Tatting by Mary Konior. The hanky is from Handy Hands Tatting.

The receiving blanket in the background has crocheted edging that I've been working on for the last few months. I've found that crocheting is much harder on my wrist than tatting, so an edging that I normally would complete in a few evenings while watching t.v., has taken me much longer!
