Tatting "Stella Alpina"
I can't help myself. I am addicted to Iris Niebach's designs! I've started "Stella Alpina" from her book Tatting Fantasia. I'm using Altin Basak #3052.
I looked through several of my tatting books trying to decide which pattern to make for my personal challenge. I kept coming back to my Iris Niebach books. I am so tempted to change my challenge to tatting all the designs in one book!

I just love the colors that you have in your stash. There is this one shop here but its across town so not sure when I will be able to visit. Keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteI love the delicacy of this piece! The muted colors are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteOh that is awesome, you are doing great! Maybe you should change your challenge if you love the designs so much! They are beautiful! I quit the one I was working on because it was too much for me, it's kinda hard for me to see "big picture" patterns and all the twists and turns were just not my cup of tea...at least for now, you know in the future after I have even more tatting under my belt I may enjoy it! LOL Funny how that is! So now I'm working on a new doily pattern that actually is more traditional and has rounds. It's a beautiful one too so I'm excited to get it done!
ReplyDeleteThat's it! I need to get myself Iris's books too. I have always admired her designs but I like to look at books before I buy them and have never had the chance with hers.
ReplyDeleteYour tatting is top notch!
Dear Diane,
ReplyDeleteThe doily is coming out lovely, like the previous one. I know, some doilies from the doily book are difficult, better to start with the easy ones, like you did. One of the most difficult is the one on the cover, till now I now only one person who made it, I hope, you will soon follow.
I can see why you love Iris's designs and your tatting is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful. Such a talented daughter. Are you practicing for weddings? At this rate you'll be ready for daughter #3 or 4, not just your greats.
ReplyDeleteWow! You constantly amaze me. I think all of that frustration from not tatting for so long has definitely improved your tatting and your determination. Like Sherry, I have to get some of Iris' books!
ReplyDeleteYou are getting so much done, and it is exquisite! This has got to be great therapy for you. Way to go!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, Diane! Iris Niebach is my favorite designer. I've got all her books and keep working a bit from this book, a bit from that. Perhaps working through a whole book would be a really good challenge!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful WIP, Diane. Where can I get some thread like that. Is there a seller online that you get it from or do you get it locally? I'm so glad you're getting all that therapy...yippee!
ReplyDeleteI think the cause why I want to do HDT for my own use is looking at your beautiful threads. plus, I want to tat and not have to sit down and do my master's project. SOB SOB
ReplyDeleteVery delicate work... I like it
