I've now tatted a Dorset Cartwheel button ornament out of each of the colors in my box of Wonderfil pastels!
I've now tatted a Dorset Cartwheel button ornament out of each of the colors in my box of Wonderfil pastels!
I've now tried 3/4 of the colors in my box of Wonderfil Eleganza perle cotton.
The two shades of blue really appeal to me.
I think I'm going to have to put these beauties on a special Christmas tree!
In my quest to learn about Dorset buttons, I found these on Amazon. They're nowhere near as pretty as the patterns I've been following, but they do make pretty ornaments.
Tomorrow is going to be a busy day. I hope I can find some time for tatting!
There are two shades of green in my Wonderfil Eleganza set of perle cotton.
I'm happy that I had time to work on them both today!
I also tatted a button ornament for Christmas in the Village. I think I really am enjoying myself way too much!
I really thought I was done tatting for the day after this morning's post. However, I just can't get enough of these Dorset button ornaments!
I'm still trying to keep up with my button ornaments for the Christmas in the Village sale.
Because of the amount of time it takes to complete a Dorset button ornament, I will not be offering these for sale.
Instead, I will give them as Christmas gifts to very special friends!
I couldn't help myself. I started another Dorset Crosswheel before heading off to bed last night.
Don't be fooled. These take several hours for me to make! I simply ignore other things that I could be doing around the house.
As for the cravings... I could really go for a dish of sherbet right now. Raspberry, peach, and orange would be perfect!
It sure is quiet around here now that our youngest grandchildren have gone home. I miss them already!
My fascination with Dorset ring buttons continues, and part of that fascination is trying out new threads! I've never worked with perle cotton before, but I decided to try it out after a tatting friend suggested it. I found this assortment on Amazon. The price was right and the colors appealed to me.
I'm not sure I would use perle cotton for everyday tatting, but I think it works well with Dorset ring button ornaments.
I think I'm going to have to have a set of these, one in each color!
After I finish my set of 12, I'll have plenty of patterns to try out. My new book by Gina Barrett arrived in today's mail There are 67 identified button patterns in this book and there are instructions for variations. I've also joined the Gina-B Silkworks group on Facebook so that I can learn from others. What fun!
Saturday was a day that was too busy for tatting. I spent about a half hour on the Tollway Tatters Zoom meeting, and then the rest of the day was spent doing things with our grandchildren. Sometimes priorities change!
