Let it snow!

I've become rather jaded when it comes to weather predictions. We never seem to get as much snow as the weatherman says we will. Still, we did get a light cover of snow last night. When daylight arrives, I may discover that there's more than I think. My fingers are crossed! I LOVE snow! It's ice that I despise!

I finished this pretty little snowflake last night. It's Snowflake 2 from Festive Snowflakes & Ornaments for Needle and Shuttle Tatters, edited by Barbara Foster. This was a fun pattern to tat, but I think I'll make some changes with the next one. First, I'll use a slightly smaller long picot for the center ring. I like the length of the fringe-like picots, but I switched to a smaller picot for the tips. Next time, I think I'll make all those picots the same size. As I was tying off the last chain, I found a strange loop of thread in the first ring. I'm not sure how it got there, but it's something I'll watch for next time!

The finished size is 3 3/4" in size 40 Lizbeth, color #116.

  2. I really like it, you know what it reminds me of, without all the picots, the flurry with larger rings on the end... speaking of, I have to tat some flurries for my tree:D and I have to dig out my snowflake book. either way you made a beautiful flake, good job :)

  5. Hi Diane -

This is very pretty. I have tatted this a while ago. Now I need to go back since the variegated thread looks very nice with it.

BTW, thank you for the shuttle. I received it in mint condition.

  7. Your snowflake is beautiful. I agree with the ice disdain as it can be so treacherous and dangerous. Happy snowflake tatting to you...

  8. Personally, I'd much rather see tatted snowflakes than Mother Nature's furry.

  11. Hi Diane!

Your snowflake is sooo pretty! I love the colorful thread you used also. I hope one day I can make them too...thanks to you!

I'm so jealous. I LOVE the snow, but all we've had so far is a tiny flurry. I so want another white Christmas. Keep your fingers crossed for me!...and your toes too!

  12. Very eye-catching indeed. BTW a pkg arrived from you today ~ ummmmmm
I'm saving it to open for Christmas; unless you want me to open it sooner (tee hee).
My husband can't believe I didn't open it up; I have NO impulse control ~ way too much inner child. But, on the other hand it is fun to see it sitting there saying, "I know what I hold and you don't" LOL Thank you for giving me some sunshine today.
I love snow too. I like those big feathery snowflakes that land on one's tongue. It probably looks pretty strange for an old lady with a fading purple steak in her hair to be standing in one place with her tongue projecting from between her lips.
Ah well, When I am Old, I shall wear Purple!
    Love your snowflakes and snow!
