Hemming

I took on the job of hemming seven pair of pants for the son of a friend of mine. It took much longer than I expected, but the job is done and I have a great feeling of accomplishment!

Daughter Carol came over after parent/teacher conferences today, and I helped her create a wolf costume for the play. Time was short, so I didn't get to take a picture. I'll try to remember to take one at the play next weekend.

After all that activity, I sat down to relax with my tatting. I love this Ocean Teal Med!

Whew!

After a run to Hobby Lobby and JoAnn Fabrics this morning, I was able to finish the last of the costume alterations. I am so happy to have that done.

After a little clean-up around the house, I was able to spend a little time tatting. I think Michelle is right... I will manage to finish another Spinning Wheel this week!

Costume day

Most of today was spent altering costumes. I would have been able to finish if I had purchased the correct ribbon for one of the dresses. I second guessed myself because of price, and I should have gone with my first choice. Since I didn't, I'll be heading back to Kankakee tomorrow to get what I need. The good news is, eight of the nine costumes are good to go!

Another mini-ball of leftover yarn found a new life today! I'm pretty sure this is wool sock yarn. Keeping my little pin looms close at hand is proving to be a good way to de-stash my mini-balls!

This is the beautiful jar Denise found at a garage sale. Yesterday it was filled with spools of sewing ahead. I should have taken a picture of it filled, but I forgot. Denise is the sock-knitting queen, and I think this beautiful jar would be a great place for her to store her mini-balls. Denise knits up her left-overs into hexipuffs. Wouldn't they look adorable in there?

I'm making progress with my newest Spinning Wheel. I do like this color, Ocean Teal Med.

Tuesday already?

I can't believe it's Tuesday, and I can't believe I forgot to post yesterday. I didn't really have anything to blog about. It was laundry day, and instead of tatting between loads, I worked on my sewing room. I'm really hoping to have it whipped in to shape before Thanksgiving. You wouldn't believe all the stuff I'm finding!

In an effort to use some of my supplies, I finished these squares on my 2" and 4" looms. Now I have to decide what to do with the squares. Anyone have any ideas?

My sewing students came today, and their first task was to choose threads. My friend Denise found a wonderful jar filled with sewing thread and thought of my girls. Wasn't that sweet of her? The girls took turns choosing spools of thread. I'm sure they'll make good use of them.

The girls finished up their fabric baskets and then learned to make pillow covers. I found some 8" pillow forms while cleaning out my sewing closet, giving the girls a fun sewing project. This is Nadia's pillow and fabric basket. Her proud mom is sitting next to her.

Bella loaded up her basket with her sewing notions.

Riley loved her pillow and basket! The pillows are plain right now. It's up to the girls to embellish them, and they had great fun coming up with ideas for decorating them.

As for my tatting, I have managed to start another Spinning Wheel glass mat. Again, I'm using size 80 Lizbeth. This is #664, Ocean Teal Med. The shuttle is a Sunlit shuttle from Handy Hands that I blinged a while back.

Tatting may have to go to the back burner for the rest of the week. I'm taking on alterations for nine costumes for the middle school production of Into the Woods. The first full dress rehearsal is Saturday, so I need to put in some serious sewing time!
