Just one skein...

was all it took to make these three pieces!

The thread is Bell Peppers, size 20 HDT from Sherry Pence aka LadyShuttleMaker. The patterns from top to bottom are "Honesty" from Tatting with Visual Patterns by Mary Konior, "Stumpy" from Kersti Anear, and "Spinning Wheel Glass Mat" from Tatting with Visual Patterns by Mary Konior.

This is the first time I've worked with a skein of HDT until it was all used up! I have little bits and pieces wound around bobbins in little boxes and bags around my sewing room. Maybe I'll start using up some of them now!

  3. Interesting to see all three pieces and know how far one skein goes...... I have used a whole one, but over time, so I don't remember everything I did with it.

Love the colour. Now, for sure I must tackle the Spinning Wheel Glass mat. : )

  7. Those are very pretty. The Bell Peppers is just as pretty as the Rhubarb Crisp, isn't it?! I wonder how all the left-over threads would look together?

  8. Great colors...I like them all. It is interesting to see how much one skein will do...good to know. Now there is a pattern by Jane Eborall that I do for small amounts of thread on shuttles. It is on her site and is called Very Small Cross. I make these up and give them away to my friends for their bibles. Takes very little thread and tats up in about 15-30 minutes and it's fun to do. Thanks for sharing. Hugs, Linda

  14. I love the color and how the 'spinning wheel' POPS out with that color! I wonder if you just started a piece of tatting adding your scrape pieces until you used them up ,what you would get? It might be an interesting experiment.Lol.

  15. Really all that from 1 skein? I just can't gage the amount of thread needed for a project, so sometimes it intiminates me to start something in HDT b/c what if I don't have enough. Thanks for letting me know approximately what I can get out of 1 50 yd skein.
