The end

It's hard to believe that I have finally arrived at the end of my teaching career! Yes, it's the end of that phase of my life, but that means it's the beginning of the next, and I'm pretty excited about the possibilities!

My friend Edna made our retirement cake. The top left is for Phyllis (high school secretary), bottom left for Robyn (2nd grade teacher), bottom right for Ken (high school guidance counselor), and top right for me.

Obviously, Edna pictures me traveling and tatting!

Robyn and I received crystal bowls as our retirement gifts.

I started my newest Spinning Wheel glass mat (Tatting with Visual Patterns by Mary Konior) is in luscious hand-dyed thread from my friend Marilee Rockley aka Yarnplayer. The color is Lilac Sea. Isn't it beautiful?

I love working with hand-dyed thread. There's something about the dyeing process that makes the thread extra smooth, and I love the colors!

  1. Hard to believe I have read about your imminent retirement for YEARS! Yes, you have been blogging about it for years. Even more difficult to comprehend is how that far-away date is suddenly here and you are actually going to retire NOW! Congratulations!

    1. Yes, it has been years! I accepted the district's retirement incentive four and a half year's ago. It seemed so far away back then. Where has the time gone?

    2. Scary, eh? But you are already tatting up a storm, getting geared up for the wonderful times to come, when you will have lots of time to start making a dent in your store of supplies! That will be a full-time occupation in itself! :))

    1. Thank you, Julie! I really hope for it to be more organized. I know that I have projects dating back to my oldest daughter's senior year in high school, 1994. Now I need to unearth them and get them finished!

  5. Welcome to TatLand 24×7 :-)
You already 'spin' out projects at head-spinning speed ... now guessing it's going to be at breakneck speed ... better hold on tight to my seat ;-P
Family will be pleased, too, with more time with grandkids :-)
