Buttons and beanies

Between button ornaments and hats, I've been keeping very busy!

Fiber Spider did a tutorial on this waffle stitch beanie. I decided to use up some of my leftovers from the projects I've been working on the past few months. I didn't have quite enough red, so I finished it in white. I think I have my Santa hat for next year!

Keeping a steady pace

 

My 2023 ornament collection is growing steadily. I won't be caught short next Christmas!

Today I tried another crocheted beanie pattern. This is a child sized cap that I gave to our band director for one of her children. It worked up pretty quickly, but I think I like some of my other patterns better. 

On to the next project!

Absent minded

I went on my computer to blog last night, and then I forgot to blog!

I finished two projects yesterday, the first was another button ornament. When looking at my partial ball of thread, I never would have thought that I'd get this many ornaments out of what was left. I may be tatting with this thread for another week!

I finished another crocheted hat last night. This isn't for anyone in particular. I'm just having fun playing with patterns. I may have a hat stash by the end of winter!

Three finishes

I gave up searching for my bag of pom poms and ordered some new ones. Grace's hat is finished now, and I can give it to her at school tomorrow.

I finished another crocheted hat today. I think I should have made it a row or two longer. I haven't decided yet if I'll add a pom pom.

Another 2023 ornament is ready! I'm not sure I can keep up the pace of an ornament a day, but it's been fun so far. I'll be back at school tomorrow, so we'll see how much I accomplish!

Staying on track

Today was a success! I finished the day's laundry, managed to get my walking in, went to lunch with Mom, and did some crafting.

I really think this button ornament is going to be my 2023 ornament. I can make one in a little over an hour, and I have a good supply of buttons and threads. Button and thread colors may differ, but I really am enjoying working this design.

I finished Rigo's wrist warmers today. I will be making some more for other high school boys, but there won't be the push that I had with the girls.

Right before dinner, I started crocheting a beanie in the round. I haven't made one of these in several years, so I'm eager to see how it turns out in comparison to the hat I made for Grace. I'm hoping to finish it in time for heading back to school on Thursday so that I can get feedback from the kids.

I still haven't found my pom poms. They have to be here somewhere!

Starting early

I didn't tat as many Christmas ornaments as I would have liked, so I decided to get an early start for next Christmas.

I almost snipped the thread off this button, because I'm not thrilled with the way it looks. It's not my favorite, but I'm glad I finished it.

A good reason to start early is that I don't want to safely store my 2023 charms. I tend to store things too well!

My second attempt looked much better to me. I'm guessing that I've written up the pattern for this button ornament, but I was too lazy to go looking today. It was much easier to just sit in my chair and tat!

I started Rigo's wrist warmers today after finishing Grace's hat. The hat still needs a pom pom, but I can't remember where I put them. I know they're stored someplace safe!

Good intentions

Happy new year to all! 

I truly had good intentions for blogging in the past month, but I've fallen out of the habit and need to start anew. In an effort to start the year out right, I made sure I did some walking. I ate well... no junk food today! We put away a few Christmas decorations. Best of all, I spent some time crafting!

A couple of weeks ago, my three youngest grandchildren put in requests for stuffies. Kara asked for a blue snowflake. Janko asked for a snowman. Sophia asked for a Santa, but changed her mind when she saw the snowflake pattern. I managed to finish a few hours before they arrived on New Year's Eve. They were well received!

I finished Joanne's wrist warmers before they left this morning. It's bee a busy few weeks, but I managed to finish all of the projects I had planned on finishing in the for Christmas gift giving!

After finishing Joanne's wrist warmers this morning, I decided to work on Grace's hat. Grace is one of the high school girls I see every day. She loved the one I made for my Secret Santa, Delaney, and asked if I would make one for her. How could I say no? I still need to make wrist warmers for Rigo, one of the boys who has been asking for a pair ever since I passed the first ones out to the girls. Once those are finished, I'm going to spend time finishing up some things I've started for myself.

We have a ravioli eating contest every Christmas Eve. Daughter Alison held the record for years with a count of 27. When son-in-law Jake realized there could be a competition, he broke the record with 38. That record has stood for years. I don't think anyone will try to break that record, but we do keep track every year. This year Kelden had the most, eating 19. 

Joanne and family spent Christmas in Georgia, and when they arrived on Saturday the kids asked if we could have a ravioli contest. Seven year old Kara won, eating 12 ravioli. She was quite proud of her achievement!
