Green Coral Sea...

This certainly isn't a snowflake color, but I couldn't find my ball of Snow White anywhere, and this was close at hand.

This is Snowflake 4 from Snowflake Roses by Denise Munoz. I'm not a big fan of dimpled rings, but I think I did okay for my first try.

The third graders received their shuttles and thread today, and they were all so appreciative and excited. I even had six more boys ask if they could learn to tat, for a total of 38 third graders! I think that's amazing! Their task today was to learn how to wrap the ball thread around their fingers. We'll progress from there. ;-)

Oh, and that missing ball of Snow White... it was on my dresser!

  1. wow I am so proud of you. I taught 3rd graders how to quilt and believe it or not the boys were more interested than the girls and they loved it!
    keep us posted!

  3. I'm impressed at how 'even' your chains are in all these snowflakes! I can't believe you have any time to tat now that you're back to school. Some of our schools were off again today because the school bus engines woudn't start! But it's finally going to get into the 30s tomorrow and the 50s by Friday. I am very amazed at the kids' interest in tatting, especially in this age of electronics! I'm sure your enthusiasm is part of the reason! I am still amazed you decorated all those shuttles!

  6. How cool that all those kids want to learn! How on earth do you manage to teach so many at once? Or do you break them into smaller groups?

I tend to think that if something is going to be called a snowflake, then it ought to be in snowflake colors. But a 6-pointed motif can be beautiful in any colors, and I love the colorway you used on this one.

  8. Another beautiful snowflake, I know it's nit the usual colour but it still looks beautiful. Wow 38 students and some boys I really hope they enjoy learning and don't drop out 38 new tatters.

  15. One of my GFs asked for a tatted trim to use on a pinkeep. She saw one at House of Stitches.

So, Wednesday, after haircut, will swing by House of Stitches and see what trim she likes.

I don't mind tatting it for her - I just want to see what she was looking at before finding similar pattern and deciding on fiber size.

Yeah, you know what I mean.

Your tatting is lovely. The snowflakes are special - each unique and wonderful.
