Easy decision

I woke up this morning and went right in to my sewing room to unpin my doily (Renulek's Wiosna 2018). I knew right away what I was going to do.

Snip! I have absolutely no regrets. The rings were stretched and ugly. Snipping never felt so good!

Tatting an Ice Drop seemed to be the way to get back in to a good tatting space.

Then, I was ready to start back with the doily. I can tell already that the slightly larger picots are going to work much better!

Round 8

I finished round 8 of Renulek's Wiosna 2018. It's pinned out because I needed to steam it to get it to lie flat. I think I need to snip this round off and re-tat it with larger picots for joining the rings. See how they're stretched out? I don't think I like that look. Seeing Jane's with slightly larger picots, I realize that the rounded look is so much better. What do you think? Should I snip or move on?

Since I didn't tat an Ice Drop yesterday, I decided to tat two today. I do love blue!

Movin' along

Today was a sub day, and while students were working diligently, I tatted and kept an eye on them. It's much easier to monitor students while doing handwork than while reading a book or surfing the Internet. It looks like I'll be able to finish this round this week.

I didn't get an Ice Drop tatted today. Maybe I'll have time before I head off to bed!

Fast service

I took one of my sewing machines in to be cleaned yesterday, and I was able to pick it up today. That's what I call fast service!

Quilt shops are dangerous places for me. This wall hanging caught my eye.

This table runner also appealed to me. Of course I bought the fabric to make both!

I had quite an adventure when I got home. I found no house keys in my purse! I called Dave, but he was out making deliveries and was too far away to help me get in. Luckily, daughter Carol had her house key with her, so I headed in to school to get it. Rather than drive all the way home, I went to the hardware store to have a spare key made. After the key was made, I was chatting with Scott (the owner), and when I was ready to leave I reached in to my pocket for my car keys. I felt keys in my pocket, and then realized I had keys on my other hand. I went through all that hoopla, and my house keys were in my pocket all the time! Scott and I got a good laugh out of that!

I still had some tablecloths to finish up left from dinner theater the other night, so I worked on household chores in the afternoon. I'm sure you can guess by now that I worked on an Ice Drop here and there throughout the afternoon... another frilly one for Joanne!

Shopping spree!

Although my friend Denise and I live only about three miles from each other, we really don't get together very often. Denise is busy with multiple volunteer activities, and I stay pretty busy subbing. However, we both had today free, so we went shopping!

First, we went to lunch at a little diner that Denise had not been to before. She had blue gill bites and I had a BLT wrap... yum! Next, we dropped off one of my sewing machines for cleaning. We then headed to JoAnn Fabrics... a very dangerous place! Fat quarters were on sale for 99 cents, so I loaded up with pieces for my sewing students. I also found some cute sewing themed fabric that I plan to use for dust covers for the machines I have sitting out. Yes, I said machines!

When we finished up at JoAnn's, we headed to Walmart. Denise told me about Mandala yarn a few weeks ago, and I started a shawl.

I haven't worked on it in over a week, but I was inspired by all the pretty colors I saw at Walmart. There was a bonus... the yarn was on sale for less than $4 per ball!

After I dropped Denise off, I headed to the grocery store for some much needed basics. It was very strange that I was driving through a heavy snow squall. Now we have some snow on the ground, but it will all melt tomorrow.

Despite the busy-ness of the day, I did manage to tat an Ice Drop. Yes, it has lots of frills, just as daughter Joanne likes!

I love mail!

I especially love receiving mail when I know that I have purchased something special, such as this beautiful box from Grizzly Mountain Arts!

Inside the box are two beautiful new shuttles from Dave's Cascade Collection. These shuttles and the box are airbrushed. I have no idea what that means, but they sure are beautiful!

Of course I had to use one of my new shuttles right away!

Frills

As daughter Joanne and her kids were picking out Ice Drops to take home, I noted that Joanne loves the ones with loads of picots. So I decided to work on some frilly Ice Drops for her next visit.

Sophia modeled for me on last time before heading home. I sure am going to miss her help!

Today was the last performance of Curtains. I'm sure daughter Carol is exhausted. I know I am.

Still, I managed to tat another frilly Ice Drop this evening. I think I'm going to head to bed early tonight and try and catch up on some of the sleep I've been missing!
