Tatted Snowflake #1

The Bears are playing terribly today, so it's very easy to sit and tat! I think "Itsy-Bitsy Snowflake" is my favorite pattern in Samantha Melnychuk's A Veritable Tatted Blizzard. I used Cebelia, size 20. I've tried using the metallic threads for more glitter, but with very poor results. I looked all over for these little picture frame ornaments the past two years, and it was well worth waiting for after-Christmas clearance sales! I sure I am glad I found my stash in time for Christmas this year!

No, we haven't started decorating for Christmas yet. Dave has so many trees, it's hard to find places to store them. So, one decorates our back porch year round. It works for me!

  1. I love the ornament. Just wish I had a tree. On the other hand I'm glad I have a ceramic tree that I just dust.

  2. The ornament is tatted perfectly! You know....I have a bunch of frames, saw them when I emptied out the room for my son to move into ......I think...think...they are in a container in the living room. I have to get this stuff out soon!

  5. That is a perfect frame for this pretty motif! One can never have enough ornaments.

My craft room is in a 'transitional stage' right now (meaning it's a mess, as I reorganize it), and I'm hoping to finally inventory all the frames, boxes, ornaments, paperweights, etc. that I have hidden away. It's time to DO something with them.

BTW, that's a beautiful mitten in your prior post! There is no end to your talents!

  6. Wow, oh, WOW! Such a perfect lil' flake in an even MORE perfect lil' frame. I just love this exquisite ornament!

The "sideways rings" have been calling to me ever since lesson 4 of the design_tat course...time to make something with them! May I try your pattern? (I don't have the book, but if you wouldn't mind sharing?)

Plus, living in Illinois puts you in relatively close proximity to AKTatter and Gina (I think?), so I am green with geographic envy.

  10. If the pattern were mine, I would gladly share it! But it's not, and all librarians have been injected with copyright law... mine was an extra strong dose! I hope you understand!

The book is available at Zig Zag Corner

  15. Just gorgeous Diane, your tree looks just wonderful with the tatted snowflake. I think I may start looking for some frames, it's not too long until Christmas.
