Things will be slow for a while...

Dave took me to the hospital Monday afternoon. I have a burst appendix. The inflammation is too great for them to do surgery right now, so I'm on antibiotics and pain killers for two weeks when I go back for an evaluation. It may take four to six weeks for the surgery to take place.

I'm not sure how much I'll be up to doing. If I do manage to tat anything, I'll be sure to let you know!

    1. Lots of R&R is what the doctor prescribed. The easier I take it, the faster I'll heal. The goal is to do laparoscopic surgery, but if things go south I'll have to have major surgery involving the colon and small intestine. I think I'll follow the doctor's orders!

    1. The doctor said it will take a minimum of two weeks for the antibiotic and pain killers to do their job. I'm not pushing it!

    1. I had never heard of appendicitis being approached this way either, but the doctor's explanation made a lot of sense, and I'm hoping for the minimally invasive approach.

    1. Thank you! I am feeling a little better every day. The doctor said I won't really start feeling better until he gets the appendix out. He said I should feel much better after that.

  7. Some people will do anything to get time off work but I know you’re not that sort of ‘someone’ as you love your job. I hope it all goes well and will meanwhile look forward to seeing your cheery self back on the blog.

    1. Thanks, Jane! I'm really hoping I'll get my energy back soon. I'm not a go-getter, but I can't stand sitting around doing nothing. Right now I'm look at the shuttle and thread sitting nest to me and thinking they look way too heavy to pick up. Maybe I'll have more energy after breakfast.

    1. The doctor thinks my warning signs started in July, but since there was no pain, I just thought I was sick. Thanks for the well wishes.

    1. Thank you, Cindy. I've been doing lots of resting. I foolishly thought I'd be back to school this week. I don't have enough energy to walk from one side of the house to the other! Maybe next week...

  20. I hope your evaluation is going well and surgery has been scheduled in a relaxed, routine way. In my book, surgery should never be "routine" and never emergency. I've added you to the prayers for recovery list as I know you and the doctors got this!

    1. I don't remember ever feeling this tired. It must be the medication. As a result, I spend most of my day taking little naps and sometimes watching a little t.v. Thanks for the well wishes!
