Another Bloomin' Ice Drop

I kind of like my new pattern! The only changes with this one are the glass gem and ribbon. It does take a bit longer to tat, probably double the time of the original Ice Drop, but I think it's worth the effort.

I just finished my latest band. This is Dots and Squares from page 18 of The Weaver's Inkle Pattern Directory by Anne Dixon. It's 1 3/8" wide by 72" plus about 8" of fringe. I'm very pleased with the way it turned out!

Another two Drop day...

It's true. Retirement is keeping me busy! I don't know where the time went today, but it did fly by!

Still, I managed to tat two Ice Drops. I thought I had enough Spring Garden left for two Ice Drops.

It turns out I did! And guess what? My shuttle is wound for another Ice Drop. I wish I had kept count of how many Ice Drops I've made from this ball, but I didn't. I'm not about to go through my blog posts and count them all, and it really doesn't matter anyway.

Today was the last day of sewing class. I think the girls had a lot of fun this year. I know I did!

Rainy Sunday

It was another dreary day, and it looks like it will be a blustery day tomorrow. Luckily, I have plenty to keep me busy!

I started the day off with an Ice Drop, of course! I'm still working from the same ball of size 20 Lizbeth #124, Spring Garden.

I've been neglecting my sister-in-law's runner, so I picked it up again today and added one motif. If I would only take the time to work on one motif a day, I would have this done pretty quickly.

I managed to work three pattern repeats on my band. Each pattern repeat is 22 picks (rows), and the repeat is 1 1/4" long. I feel like I'm getting better with the band weaving. I've been checking the width  after each pick to make sure it's a consistent 3/4". I was very pleased that I made no mistakes today!

I've also been neglecting my Renulek doily. I did manage two pattern repeats today, so I'm a little more than 1/4 of the way around.

One last Ice Drop in Spring Garden finished off my day, which turned out to be pretty productive!

Cold and dreary

Today was the perfect day to snuggle up under a blanket with a good book, but I didn't. Instead, I tatted Ice Drops and worked on my band weaving.

I finished this Spring Garden Ice Drop this morning. It's in size 20 Lizbeth #115, Springtime.

I spent most of the day working on my band weaving. I learned a lot today, which is another way of saying I made a lot of mistakes! I truly think it's easier to open a closed ring in size 80 thread than it is to fix a weaving mistake made several rows back. I'm pretty sure I spent more time fixing mistakes than I did actually weaving. Still, I'm pleased with my progress.

It sure was nice to end the day with a familiar pattern! This Ice Drop is in size 20 Lizbeth #124, Spring Garden.

I think I'll spend the rest of this rainy evening with a good book!

Spring Garden

Thank you to Alicja for pointing out that I had the wrong word for cross! I guess that's what I get for looking at my enlarged copy instead of the book. I'm so sorry for the mix-up!

I love this pattern! As you can see, today I tatted Krzyz by Jan Stawasz in size 20 Lizbeth #124, Spring Garden.

Today I used a flat doodad, which is very slightly larger than the domed one I used yesterday. A little bit of steam did the trick, and I'm happy with the flat doodad in the center. However, I don't think I like the multi-colored thread for this pattern. I think a more subtle blend of colors shows off the pattern better.

I feel very lucky to own these two shuttles from Chris Hinton. The Palmetto Tatters shuttle was a gift from my dear friend Sue Anna. If I understand correctly, these were the last shuttles Chris made before his laser machine stopped working.

The shuttle on the right is a sea horse. If I remember correctly, Chris based this design on Anne B's Seahorse Dragon but couldn't work the wings into the design. Anne B's Seahorse Dragon is Debbie Arnold's Seahorse with wings. So, in my mind, this shuttle is a representation of Debbie's pattern. No matter how you look at it, it's a beautiful shuttle!

Gunhild's Romantic Hexagon

I finished Gunhild's Romantic Hexagon early this morning. Isn't it pretty? I used size 20 Lizbeth #124, Spring Garden and #676, Leaf Green Dark. The finished size is 3 3/4" from point to point. Thanks for asking, Michelle!

I love this pattern, and I plan on trying other color combinations!
