Liz Metallic Antique Gold

Today's tatting was done with Liz Metallic Antique Gold.

The color is okay, but I think this is my least favorite of all the colors. How do I choose which color to use? It's random. The bags of thread are on the floor next to my chair, and I reach down and grab a bag without looking. I like using a scientific approach! ;-)

Liz Metallic Turquoise Blue and Christmas Red

Subbing wore me out this week, so I didn't post yesterday. However, I did tat an Ice Drop!

This is Liz Metallic Turquoise Blue. I do love this color! I used another of my Grizzly Mountain Arts shuttles.

Today I chose to use Liz Metallic Christmas Red.

Yes, this is another Grizzly Mountain Arts shuttle. It's covered up by thread, but there is a beautiful letter "D", just for me!

Yesterday's mail brought two lovely shuttles from Veronica of Tatting Shuttles. I think it's wonderful that we have the ability to collect tatting shuttles from around the world!

Yesterday's mail also included two beautiful new shuttles and picot hooks from Grizzly Mountain Arts. I'm so glad Dave is making shuttles again!

Today I received my newest shuttle from Rita Richmond of Shuttle by Design. I've never been to Paris, and I probably never will get there, but I love having a shuttle with the Eiffel Tower on it!

Dave and I had a big thrill today. We saw daughter Carol on t.v.! She's the enthusiastic brunette on the right. She was on screen just before the final pitch of the game, and the Cubs won! This is the second time we've seen Carol on t.v. when she was attending a Cubs game. The first time was two years ago at Wrigley Field. I guess being on t.v. two times makes her a star! ;-)

Liz Metallic Steel Blue

I think I've changed my mind about my favorite color of Liz Metallic.

I love the way Steel Blue looks tatted up! Can I have two favorite colors? Sure I can!

I also have many favorite tatting shuttles, including this wonderful little shuttle from Grizzly Mountain Arts. I know I've said it before, but I really do think that flat shuttles are the way to go with metallic threads.

I mind another lined drawstring bag today. This is my third bag in this size. I'm sure I could have figured out how to make bags in a variety of sizes, but I chose to purchase the pattern from Jeni Baker instead. Her pattern includes the directions for 8 sizes of bags, and it's only $9. Yes, I could have chosen to make just the one size, but I like to support designers so that they will keep on designing. I think I may have to visit Jeni's blog more often!

Liz Metallic Gold

I only had time to tat one Ice Drop today, and it just had to be in another Liz Metallic, Gold this time.

I like the look of the gold and white together. I used another of my beautiful Grizzly Mountain Arts shuttles. Beautiful threads, glass gems, bits of ribbon, gorgeous shuttles... is it any wonder that tatting is my favorite way to pass time?

Liz Metallic Gem Stone

Believe it or not, this is the ninth Liz Metallic thread I've tried!

There are so many colors in this pretty thread. I could have chosen gold, pink, purple, blue, green. Any of them would have looked good, but as you can see, I chose red! I used another of my flat shuttles from Grizzly Mountain Arts. I really do think flat shuttles are my best option when working with metallic threads.

I managed to sew another lined drawstring bag before heading in to school this morning. One of the teachers felt ill after arriving at school, and luckily I was available to help out.

Both bags that I've made are already spoken for. Luckily, I have lots of material for making more of them!

Liz Metallic Frappe

Are you tired of seeing my tests of the new Liz Metallic threads? I'm not! 😁

As with the other metallic threads I've tested, this one does not show up nearly as nicely on the computer monitor as it does in person. The glass gem is a perfect accent to the thread. I think a flat shuttle works best for me when working with metallic threads. It's easy to wind and unwind the thread, and I don't have to worry about rubbing the threads between the tips of a post shuttle. I do like the bobbin shuttles for metallics, but I find that I can tat more evenly with the flat shuttle. This shuttle is from Grizzly Mountain Arts.

I'm making good progress on Renulek's Wiosna 2018, but I'm falling behind all because I snipped off round 8. I'll catch up!

I dusted off my sewing machine and made this lined drawstring bag today. I love this pattern by Jeni Baker! Using four fat quarters, I was able to cut out the pieces for two bags. I finished this one and started another. I would have finished them both, but my sewing machine was acting up so I took it in for servicing. Luckily, I have another sewing machine!

Liz Metallic Silver

Happy Easter! ...and happy International Tatting Day! No, I did not tat in public.

However, I did tat with family around this afternoon.

 I wish you could see this beautiful silver color. It sparkles like you wouldn't believe! It was nice to use a Pop-A-Bobbin shuttle again. I love the feel of a wood shuttle. This little beauty is Tulipwood, and it's one of my favorite Pop-A-Bobbin shuttles!
