My "Tat This!" Stitch Count

Pattern writing is not my forte, so please bear with me! This doily is in three rounds. Rounds 1 and 2 are simple ball and shuttle. I used two shuttles wound CTM for the third round. If you find any mistakes, please let me know, and I will correct them. Enjoy!

Round 1:
Rings: 4-4-4-4 (3 picots) RW
Chains: 4-2-2-2-2-4 (5 picots) RW

Round 2:
Clover ~
Small ring: 8-8
Large ring: 10+10 (join to center picot of any chain on previous round)
Small ring: 8-8 RW

Chains: 4-2-2-2-2-4 (5 picots) RW

Small ring: 4+2-2-2-2-4 (join to picot of previous ring, 4 picots) RW

Round 3 (two shuttles CTM):
Small ring: 4-4+4-4 (join to 2nd picot of any chain on previous round) RW
Chain 5 SS
Large ring: 5-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-5 (9 picots separated by 2ds) SS
Chain 5 RW
Small ring: 4-4+4-4 (join to 4th picot of same chain on previous round) RW
Chain 5 SS
Small ring: 4+4-4 (join to last picot of previous large ring) SS
Chain 5 RW
Repeat around.

Note: I just read on Miranda's blog that this doily is actually the first three rounds of Mom's Doily by Nancy Tracy. Thank you, Nancy, for sharing your wonderful designs! I hope I've represented your pattern in a way that pleases you.

  1. That looks great. Well written too. You're a clever lass. If I wasn't so tied up in getting ready for Tat Days I may have taken part although I'm sorta allergic to doillies!

  2. Your tatting skills are amazing! With absolutely LIGHTNING speed you have accomplished both tatting this delightful doily and writing out the stitch counts! You even made more work for yourself by making 10 rings instead of eight! But in my opinion the 10 rings make the doily more attractive!

I thought the third round of the fabric 'print' was difficult to 'read' because it looked as if there would be giant 'holes' where the picots weren't connected to anything. But the 10 rings tighten everything up and make your doily look just right!

And you even ordered the printed fabric to make pouches! Amazing how this all evolved from Miranda's trip to JoAnn's!

  5. Wow! The saga continues! However, your doily is different enough (especially the ten rings at the start), that I'm sure Nancy won't mind!
