Lovin' my shuttle!

I said it in my last post... this is a great inexpensive post shuttle with an integrated hook! My first project with my new shuttle is the bookmark pattern on the back of the package. I used size 20 Lizbeth Twirlz, Winter Ice. As you can see, there's a lot of thread still left on the shuttle. Yes, indeed, I am very pleased!

I think the kids are having an informal contest to see who can tat the longest length of chain...

and Peyton have been tatting yards and yards of Fancy Pants! Oh, yes, there are others. It is so much fun watching these little fingers fly!

I placed another Handy Hands order on Friday, because eleven more 5th graders asked me to teach then at library time. I think some of them were disappointed, because I had no shuttles left. I promised them they'd be here by the middle of the week.

I ran out of floss bobbins, so when Dave and I went shopping in Kankakee Friday night, I went to Hobby Lobby to buy some more. I didn't realize they close at 8, because I'm usually there in the middle of the day. Just as I walked in the door, they announced that the store would be closing in 10 minutes. Of course my mind went blank immediately! Where in the world were the floss bobbins? The girl at the fabric counter helped me find them, and she tried to talk me into some fancy winding system. I told her no thank you. I just wanted floss bobbins, because I gave them to my 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders to hold tatting thread. Her eyes got wide, and she asked me if I really taught tatting. You know my response! ;-)

To make a long story short, I have her my name and phone number so that I could give her tatting lessons. I do believe tatting is going viral!

  1. Yes it's catching on in your little part of the world,
I wish you could enjoy my spring day here in the UK, thank you for your comment on my blog today and hopefully your snow will be gone soon.
Lovely bookmark is that from one of your new books.

  2. To most she appears to be a simple librarian, but in fact she is a stealth tatting teacher!
Return next week for another installment of "Tat's the Library"!

  3. I love it! Your tatting 'adventure' gets more and more exciting. Can't wait for the next part of the story. ;-) This is great!

  4. I don't know where you're getting the energy for all this! You know you're going to be asked to teach at Hobby Lobby! This is quite fascinating and fun to watch!

  5. I love StringyDogs' comment! And now to find a would-be pupil outside school too, that's wonderful!

  6. I get excited every time I read your blog and the little flying hands. Don't forget Hobby Lobby has a coupon for 40% off. You can sign up for their emails to receive one each week (as well as a smartphone app and Sunday paper).

  7. Your bookmark is gorgeous!!! :)
Sounds like there won't be anything for you but tatting if things keep going the way they are! :)

  8. Is there anywhere I can get hold of this pattern? On the internet someplace? It is so gorgeous!!

Just like you, I love getting feedback!
