More Korean tatting



This morning I tatted the second motif for the Butterfly Effect doily from Tatting Lace with Your Life. The first motif is in Lizbeth #616, Daffodil Med. The second is in Lizbeth #170, Pineapple Parfait. I managed to get quite a bit done between laundry loads!


This afternoon I decided to be lazy and watch t.v. So, I had time to tat the third motif for the doily! This one is in Lizbeth #138, Leafy Green.

Dave came home early today, so he helped me can beets. I have never canned before, and I now know that I hate canning! It took me two and half hours to finish seven pints of beets. I know there are many people who love canning, but I now know that I am not one of them!

    1. Thanks, muskaan! Now that I have the idea, the pattern is very simple to tat. It's kind of like nibbling at tasty bits of food... I just can't stop!

    My parents canned tomatoes and peaches and it was so much work and mess and I decided that it wasn't for me!! :)

    1. Mess is right! My goodness, talk about dishpan hands, and I managed to get beet juice all over my clothes, despite the use of an apron!

  3. I used to can when my boys were little and they are now in their 40's. Thanks for the reminder of why I do NOT want to start canning again.
    Your tatting is lovely and such a better use of time. Isn't retirement wonderful?!

    1. Dave was very helpful, but there was still a lot of mumbling and grumbling going on in the kitchen last night. I told him I would rather eat nothing but beets for breakfast, lunch, and dinner than can... he laughed! Yes, retirement is wonderful!

  4. Ooh, I love those Korean flowers! I do canning, I can't say I love it but it's a good way to prevent Jack's produce going to waste. It's hard work, but I usually like the result!

    1. Thank you, Jane! They are fun to tat. I don't like to see food go to waste either, and this is the first time in years that Dave has really paid attention to the vegetable garden. In the past, we've been able to easily consume what he has grown. However, he has taken a keen interest in vegetables again this year and we have a bumper crop! So, a-canning I will go!

    1. Sally, I like the patterns in this book so much, I've ordered the other two Korean books I found at Handy Hands. This was the least expensive of the three. I hope to finish some more of the doily today!

  6. Beautiful motifs, not seen this book so will have a look for it, if that motif is anything to go by, I wonder what other lovely tatting you have in store for us.
    Canning or bottling as in this country is not for me either,

    1. Thank you, Margaret! I am enjoying the book. I'm still working on the same motif, but I know I will eventually move on to others. More canning today, but daughter Carol helped out, so it wasn't as bad.

  7. You may hate the canning now, but you will get to enjoy you season's bounty for some time now. I bet your canned beets will be better than what you buy from the store. Oh yeah, I love your motifs. Waiting to see how it all comes together.
