Switching to 20

I finished edging the hanky with size 10 Wedgewood Dk, and I think I'm going to leave it as it is for now. I haven't found a needle lace edging that I like to go with it, and I don't think the size 10 thread really works for a hanky.

This morning I decided to switch to size 20 Garden Afternoon hand-dyed thread from my friend Marilee Rockley. I figured this would be good practice for future projects. My plan is to add a tatted edging once I finish the needle lace round. I've crocheted around a hanky before adding a tatted edge, so it will be interesting to see how this looks in comparison when finished.

It's Spirit Week at school, which means lots of extra activity. In turn, that means little time for tatting while supervising. Still, I managed to tat another Ice Drop today!

  1. Looks like you are off to a fabulous start on your hanky edging!!!! :) Love the colorway!
And another great Ice Drop as always!! :)

  2. I'm trying to keep up with all your activities! Your pace is too fast for me! This heedle lace edging looks perfect and a good idea, different from crocheting. Beautiful thread. You re getting the stitches down on the flowers too! I can't imagine putting a musical together with the kids. Nice way to spend time with your daughter. You must be so proud of her! You're having a very fulfilling retirement. Very happy for you!

    1. My life is full, Kathy! I'm enjoying my crafts and spending time with others. The bonus is, I don't have the stress that goes with full-time teaching: lesson plans, grading, professional development. I am enjoying retirement!

  3. That’s a good idea, to combine needle lace and tatting, I like your thinking.

  4. Looking forward to seeing the needle lace and tatting together.

  5. Looking good so far! Have fun with adding the tatting!

  6. You could always add tatting to the edge of the edging😀

  7. Lovely needle lace & we all adore your drops. Now I, too, am curious the difference in needle lace and crochet around a handy (before the tatted edge).

Just like you, I love getting feedback!
