Today was fun filled, with very little crafting.
I did manage to tat one Doodle Ice Drop in size 20 Lizbeth #703 Sky Blue Light, using another beautiful ceramic shuttle from Sherry Pence aka LadyShuttleMaker.
Why was there so little time for tatting?
The high school play is a week and a half away, and the set is painted like a giant Rubik's Cube. I decided it would be fun to bring puzzle cubes and other shapes to school to pump up kids for the play.
Students were able to try their skills during lunchtime and study hall. We had lots of fun!

ReplyDeleteI had several different types of those puzzles as a teen and loved them.....never able to solve them, but get times trying!!! ;)
I've never been able to solve them either, but I do enjoy playing with them!
DeleteI just have to ask - Can you 'solve' the original Rubik's cube? I never could and was amazed at those who can do it in under a minute. There are youtube videos, but they also confuse me!

No! Dave and I bought one the first year we were married. We tried to solve it for months. We finally wrote a check and sent off for the directions. Remember how we used to have to wait for our check to clear before the seller would ship? I'm sure we waited for at least two weeks. Even with the written directions, one of us had to read while the other worked the puzzle. Several of the kids are good at solving these!

DeleteHadn't realised there were so many variations to the original - that triangke/trapezium one seems unsurmountably daunting! Impressive how lunch is side-lined π You did good to give them these cubes π

DeleteDiane, there are 2 easy ways to solve the Rubik's cube.
ReplyDelete1. Unpeel the stickers and put them back where they belong.
2. Carefully insert a knife between the blocks and twist. The whole thing snaps together. Disassemble it and put back together correctly.
Huh? What do you mean that's cheating? I could never get it solved even with directions. Hehe.
Haha! I've thought of doing that, but the kids are having so much fun with them, I think I'll give them a chance first!

DeleteI remember when the cube came out in the 80's we bought the book on how to figure them out πand it worked I love the blue drop!
ReplyDeleteDave and I tried to solve the puzzle on our own way back when. We finally gave up and sent off for the directions! Yes, it did work, and I still don't know how!
